Ok I just want to make as much smoke for as little money as possible. I found some old 14" rims and want to get some new but cheap tires for them so I can do one thing - make big clounds of smoke. Handling is no issue.
Any body have any suggestions??

No you want the smallest tire possible. Rim size has nill to do with the size of tire a 215 70 R14 is actually the same outer diameter as a 215 70 R15 or 16. You want the smallest narrowest tire possible on any size rim. Spare tires work nicely.
Oh and the biggest carb possible.

Thanks for the info...
The best I've found so far is $31 at Walmart or a p187/75 R14. I have to go with a 14" tire since I have those sized rims. I'm still hopping to find some in the low Twenties.
Any other suggestions?

I happen to know someone who works at Firestone selling/installing tires all day. He told me the cheapest tire are those real little ones that come on Ford Fiesta's. $13 each tire, not counting $20 each to mount them to the rims. Then again, I think they're four lug wheels, so they won't fit your car.

Go to a service station and ask them if they have any tires that they were going to throw out that can hold air. You can usuall get a used tire for about $5, well, around here at least. I would think that would be your best bet. Oh, and have fun (I know you will, hehehe).

Width, maybe, but not diameter.

go in back of a tire store and grab some 14 inch tires with some tread left on em
Get some used snow tires, they are cheap and really soft.

goto discount tire or whatever you have there.....ask them for some burners.....they usually dont have a problem hooking ya up for 5-10 bucks a tire
For snow tires i like the ones with walnut shell in them. If you really get them spinning they will start to tear themselves apart.

lol - i like your idea MEL. I got some at a local tire shop. They are prolly 1/3 -1/2 worn and I bought both and got them mounted for $40. Probably could have found a better deal though.
But NOW it's time to make some asphault grafitti!!!

And besides, by the time i got all the way back up here in Iowa from your place the things would be down to the belts anyway.
Later man.

working at a tire shop i see alot of worn and abused tires daily. Note that i work on mostly cemi tires ( 11 R 24.5..blah blah) but if you've ever seen a blowen tire you have to think what happened to the car. Have fun, but be careful to not mess anything up. Esp have a blown tire and then ripping the bead lose and really messing up your rims. Small car tires can take some abuse, but if it's really cheap then the old saying goes " you get what you pay for" and i wouldnt get to crazy on some small 14 inchers. Post pics if you get a chance!

I'm still working on those pics. I had to re-install my camera software so it is taking a while, anyway....
I've found some tires behind shops and what-not but is there a quick way to tell if they have serious holes in them? Like maybe a common mark that tire shops use?
Oh and doing 3 minute burnouts at red lights is serious fun... I purposely take streets w/stop lights now.

I used to work at a Goodyear tire store. We would sell the used take offs for $10-25 depending on the condition & size. The ones in the scrap pile were damaged or too worn. They weren't usually marked in any way.
