very high fuel pressure

I have recently changed to 24# injectors and a installed and High volume fuel pump along with an AFPR..now I am showing 85 psi pressure and no matter what I do to the AFPR it doesn't change. My charcoal canister also got full of fuel...is it possible that my AFPR is faulty or my return line blocked? Any insights?

poncho,

I'm guessing your FPR is not regulating at all, and won't allow fuel to bleed back through the return line. Your new pump won't last long at 85 PSI either.

but why would my pump be pumping at 85 psi? It is a walbro high volume series...is there something else builing pressure?

I had this problem when I added my AFPR and after beating my head about what it was I took it all apart. I found that I had bent the guide rod inside the pressure regulator spring. I replaced this assembly and re-installed the AFPR hat and all was good.

I have since added SVO 24# injectors and a Walbro (Holley) **mp and had no further problems.

Hope this gives you some ideas.
