Could My TV cable cause this to happen?
A monthe or so back I replaced my shift cable on my 700R4 and ever since then my car doesnt seem to run the way it used to. also it diesels alot when i put regular gas in it but when i put plus in it doesnt do it as much but it still does it. I ask this because when we changed the shift cable we also disconnected the TV cable to make it working on it easier. If I did not get this on right could it mess up my car? and how could I make sure it is on right? Also i have noticed my tranny not shifting as firmly and sometimes it takes a while to shift into the next gear? Also sometimes i will chirp the tires when it shifts to 2nd at WOT, is this good or bad?

Er, are you sure you disconnected the TV cable to make replacing the SHIFT cable easier??
The TV cable is on the passenger side of the trans, the shift cable is on the driver's, and no way could the two interfere.
Oh- do you mean the "electrical" cable? That's for the TCC (Torque Convertor Clutch) lockup, from the computer.
Which one is it?

It's the one under the coverplate for the transmission from inside the car. you know where the shifter and everything is. If you look in there there are two cables the one on the drivers side is the shift cable and the other,on the passenger side, is the TV cable or so ive been told.

Okay yeah you got the TV cable, I'm just not sure why you disconnected it
Did you re-adjust the TV cable at the front, by the throttle body?
Did you unhook the TV cable from the linkage inside the trans, or did you unhook the TV cable from the top of the trans and just slipped the lever out of the cable's eye? Depending on where you unhooked it, you could've hooked it back up wrong, but somehow I don't think that happened.

Ummmm, if you're looking inside the console, you will see 2 cables. One is the shifter cable taht runs to the tranny (heavy cable in middle.) The other is the shifter lockout cable that keeps you from being able to shift when the ignition is locked, and also doesn't aloow you to lock car with shifter not in park. The TV cable is under the hood and runs to the tranny and goes nowhere near the console or shifter.
In answer to your question, if you screwed up the adjustement on your shifter cable you could have/still be seriously screwing up your tranny. It would not cause engine problems. As for teh lockout cable, you can disconnect it and hook it to your forehead and it still doesn't matter. If by some off chance you did mean TV cable, it couldn't cause anything but tranny problems. like late/firm shifts...hmmm. Not dieseling though. And it sure as hell isn't in the console.
