Cracked flex plate...
My car started making a really annoying ticking and now it's turned into a rumble when i get on the gas. I was told by the mechanic it was a cracked flexplate (flywheel, whatever)....How hard is this to replace myself? i have a 700r4 tranny. Any idea's??

its not to bad
all u have to do is drop the tranny wich is simple enouph and then the flex plate just boltd to the engine and then to the tork converter.
not to hard. You just need to pull the trans back out of the way. unbolt the torque converter form it, then unbolt it from the crank.
Of course you've got that torque arm and the drive shaft to get out of the way also. And they are pretty heavy. A trans jack would be nice, but a floor jack can be made to work to hold it up.
And you might want to get a new trans mount while your at it. A goowey stock trans mount that allows the trans to shift sideways when you get on it is probably what cracked it.

Well today it was a little wet out and i decided to beat on the car a little.....i think the flexplate is really broken now. makes some nasty *** sounds when it's in park and neutral but the car still drives. I was just wondering what flywheel do i need? How many teeth do i have to have?

Check partsamerica.com or similar sites to find the tooth count.
That plate will eventually crack all the way around, and probably leave you stranded some where. You need to change it soon.
If your worried about it breaking again, get yourself one those SFI approved plates from summit or Jegs. There thicker than stock, and don't forget to replace the torque convertor bolts!!!
ARP makes a good set of bolts, both for the torque convertor & crankshaft to flex bolts.

A broken trans mount will not stress the flex plate; it does not allow the trans to move with respect to the motor. As long as the trans remains bolted to the motor, the flex plate's life will not change.
Of course, if your trans mount is bad, change it anyway.
Easiest way to change the flex plate, is to simply move the transmission rearward a couple of inches; you don't have to pull t all the way out. Just undo the converter bolts and torque arm and mount and drive shaft, take the trans-to-motor bolts out and replace on on each side with about a 6" long one, and slide the trans as far back as it will go; you should easily be able to get a box-end wrench up in there to all the bolts.
