Fuel line fix

My fuel line is rusted and leaking after it comes out of the fuel tank toward the bottom of the wheel well. The line is metal at the top, then there is about 7 in of rubber tubing back into metal, where it is rusting at. How can I fix this without blowing myself up?

Remove the line at the filter while standing by with a rubber cap tp stop fuel leakage. Of course, you will want to be sure you have plenty of ventillation, no ignition sources, and good lighting. DO NOT use an incandescent trouble lamp. The bulb can shatter if fuel drips on it and it can ignite the fuel liquid and vapor with the hot filament!

Remove the meat line(s), then form the new line to the same shape and length. Install and connect.

The procedure would be the same. Remove the rubber line and cap the steel tubing from the tank. Remove the rusted/failing metal line and replace it with new steel tubing. You'll likely spill a little fuel either way, but the idea is to minimize the fuel spillage.
