Ok this really sucks.... I have no license til august 23rd, I need new tires before I can get it inspected, and now my trunk is not working. ok I think it's the little mechanical pull down thing. When I close it it make sa really loud humming noise like it' stryng to pull the hatch down farther then it' ssupposed to go. Help me, what cani do to fix this crap? It's got to ge fairly inexpensive I hope, since I also have to get new tires before august 23rd...

 

What, no one had this happen to them? Now I feel a tad let down...

 

i had one problem with my trunk pull down and that was when my friend slammed it down and the plastic assy that the motor is enclosed in broke, i can tell you that a new assy(with motor) will cost anywhere around $90 i think. the whole thing is easy to take apart , maybe there is just a problem in the assembly and its an easy fix. good luck.

 

I replaced the plastic housing and gear on my '88 GTA power pull down motor for less than $30. Very easy to repair. Totally fixed my problem. There was a post a few weeks back with the GM part numbers. I don't remember them.
