WTF!! Roll cage installation( the darkened directions!!!)

Ok... I got the main hoop in... time to grind and fit the pipes that go back and forward..... According to S&W directions the back pipes should be welded right over the gastank... Not only that its dangerous, but most important, the place where they tell you to weld them is a plane sheet metal cover. There is no way in can provide support NO SIR... I indeed you weld it there, the hoop would rock back and forth since the sheet metal IS NOT strong....

Anyways... would the place right next to the shocks(right above the rearend) be better to weld those rear bars... that seems like a strong point.... doesn't look as cool though...

Actually, it would be better to put them closer to the shocks since thats want you want to keep stabilized.
Are you making sure to put down a plate before you weld the tube down? 36 square inches per point that touches?

We put 6" x 6" plates down at each point on mine. Or any variation that gets you 36 sq. inches

I have the SW setup and put 2 bars on each side. One goes to the top of the shock mount, the other to the frame rail in the very back, just like the directions I had. Not sure which cage you have, but you can see it on their website at www.swracecars.com and I have some pictures of mine on my page.

Take a look at the pics on my pages. My bar is a custom fabricated one but it'll give you some ideas on where to weld.
