How do I set the idle?
I have an '86 Firebird 2.8L MPFI, Auto.
I read how to set the idle in a FAQ, but i don't know what the ALDL is, and how to connect the terminals on the Idle Air Control valve. Ummm... help
Thank you

The ALDL is a port that is under dash. It serves as the connectiob to read all the computer parameters on a screen. You can also "wire" it to report engine codes to be flashed on and off with the check engine light. I am not familar with setting the idle, or "minimum air", but I would get a service manual for reference.

I took a pin and stuck it into the middle connector of the tps, and then read voltage from that to ground. That way you don't have to make a mess with jumper wires and whatnot... also, I'm pretty sure that after you disconnect the IAC you turn the ignition off, remove the connector in the ALDL, and then start the engine... That's how i did it in my 87 t/a anyway...
