my car is a hater!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

well....went out last night and ran into this girl i have wanted like in forever.....we were having a great time......her sister insists we go to another bar....we jump in mine...this girl was loving it...got her all scared..lol...till...i am driving down the road and it vibrates all nuts and starts making weirds sounds...i killed it right off and popped the hood....no belts.......i grabbed the water pump pulley and it had come offthe pulley and part of the pump...grrrr...so we got stuck walking...still got her number though..heh....well...picked it up and i noticed the crank pulley was off center....2 bolts worked loose and fell out and the pulley came loose and took out the water pump and pulley...so i am at a junk damper.....

my engine is a balanced 357....now any 350 balancer will work...?????or do i have to get the same exact size balancer that it was balanced with?.....

If it was internally balanced, any old 350 damper should work fine. Dampers are neutral balanced for the shorter stroke SBCs.

Good job on getting the number anyway!

As for the balancer, that really sucks. I'll ditto what has already been replied about what will work, and also reccomend looking into a better than stock one. Maybe a Fluidamper? That's what I plan get for myself, but the $$$ don't allow at this time!

As for the belt loss issue, I'm there with ya! I was doing a couple back road runs a few weeks ago after making some adjustments when I found out that my A/C V-belt doesn't like much more than about 5200 RPM's! It flipped, and in the process took out the alternator belt. That was a big issue because I run the trigger for the fuel pump relay from the chake heater relay, which will not work unless the alternator is charging. Luckily, I was moving fast enough to coast it about 1/2 mile to the door at the shop! I also had it pop loose yesterday when letting a buddy hear it run, but I caught it before it took out the alt belt!

Been there before... having something go wrong with my car at the absolute WORST POSSIBLE MOMENT!!

Oh well, at least you still got her number

And yea, a regular 350 balancer will work.

i have the possibility of getting a steel damper from a machine shop for $120...i am gonna look into that

well....i got a balancer from a friend for cheap so it goes back togethetr tomorrow..yay!
