??'s with assembling bare heads
ok i have a good set of LT1 aluminum heads that are ported, polished, have screw in studs and guideplates and a very very small combustion chamber...around 50-52cc, the heads are bare and i need to get valves, springs, cups, retainers, locks, seals, everything....what size valves should i go with, 2.055 intake and 1.600 exhaust? also i was thinking about getting the comp rev kit...i don't want to skimp out on the heads right now because i want to do them right the first time...the are being modified with the LT1 intake for the gen 1 block...
L98 stock pistons, rings, rods, crank until next winter when it comes back off the road...then i will do the T56 swap and better bottom end....
the cam i have is crn-109831 hyrdraulic roller
adv. duration is 284/292
duration at .050" is 222/230
lift is .509/.528
and the rpm range is 2500-6000
would i run into valve to piston clearance problems? and what do i want to assemble these heads, which springs and everything...i was given springs that i were told were for the LT4 hotcam but they are single's...so i don't want to use them...i know nothing about them....
any help would be appreciated...
-thx, mark

i'd buy valve that fit the head, is it stock valve size? check the grinders catalot for springs to match the cam. you should always check piston to valve clearance but i doubt you have any problems, ususally doesn't happen till well past .6 lift.

valves are cut for larger valves, also has a multi angle valve job...probably 2.020 and 1.600 i was thinking about buying 2.055 and 1.600 and if they were 2.020 i would just have them cut the tiny bit...because if i bought 2.020 and they were cut for slightly larger....40% restocking fee would suck....

Most stock heads will not accommodate valves larger than 2.02"/1.60". That's why those specific sizes exist. They're the largest valves you can put into a production head with production tolerances, that won't touch. So it's safe to say that they're not cut for 2.055" intakes, and if they are, they're garbage.
You will not have valve-piston clearance issues with that little of a cam.
Get the heads cut for 1.45" outer diameter valve springs; and for Teflon seals, while they're cutting.
