#6 & 8 spark plug with SLP headers w/air tubes replacement

what tricks to remove this ba$tard, I have AC with SLP headers and air tubes, the back two on the pass side seem to be the biggest hassle to change out

I have a SLP socket on the way, what else do you recommend

Do you have to remove them from the bottom? or can you change them out from the top?

I always get those two from the bottom using the socket and a wrench.

6 you can probably get from the top and maybe 8. it depends if you have CC garbage in the way.

I have Hedmans and I do 6 & 8 from under the car.

Most of the plugs I do with a socket and open end wrench - can't get a 3/8 drive in there at all.

I have to use a box end - no socket - on #3 I think it is. Just barely fits if I hold it an angle.

I'm going to try cutting a bit off a socket and maybe grind it thinner.

What is this SLP socket that you've mention. Is some special small plug socket and if so could you post the part number.

Thanx

George,
You can go to slponline.com and look for the special socket, it's about $20 plus shipping. If you look closely, it's a ground down 1/2" drive spark plug socket, it even says Craftsman on the edge. So, I guess if you had a grinder and a socket, you could make your own. Grind it down enough for the tip of the plug to extend out the top and your there.

do it from underneath(possible from top but waste of lots of time)

Use a offest boxend wrench to get over the head and onto the plug

works everytime and fastsest way ive found

What is this SLP plug socket?

I bought their tri-y's years ago (1990?) and the invoice reads that the socket is back ordered.

I still haven't received the socket they owe me.

If I ever figure out how, I'll post a pick of my home made socket.

I made my own socket by grinding down a spark plug socket. Just make sure you use one that has the hex on the outside end of it this way you can get an open end on it if needed.
