plug in head for fan switch

I have a plug in my head where the fan switch went on electric fan equipped cars. It has a square drive. It is not the standard square 3/8" drive, it's smaller. Does anyone know what this is and where I can get a wrench to get it out. I tried grinding down a 3/8" extension. I just ripped the end off in it. This thing is in tight. Ideas?

I used a vise grips pliers to remove one - it was really tight.
