Installed new spark plugs in my car and.......
WOW!! What a difference! I installed the new plugs to help cure fuel economy, hesitation and missing problems. Plus the car seemed to have trouble getting up to speed. I was surprised to see platinums in there. Replaced them with a set of regular GM plugs. I'm a little worried though.
The old plugs were kinda crusty with a light coat of oil on a few at the tip and threads. Should I be worried?
Secondly....car still hesitates from idle. If you goose the gas pedal, it hesitates real bad. Any ideas on what to do? BTW, I'm running an Edel 550 carb. Will running rich cause this?
Thanks,
Brandon

84,
A little oil seepage into the threads is not uncommon, and isn't necessarily a major issue. "Crusty" deposits are not normal, but a light tan/gray coating of soot and ash is acceptable.
The hesitation on throttle tip-in that you describe is more likely due to a lean condition than rich, at least on acceleratioon.
