Sounds like you split the filter housing or blew the neoprene gasket. Was the filter tight? Was it a Fram?

Did you just change your oil and left the old seal stuck to the block double sealing it? It's kinda guessing what happened without knowing where the oil came from. There might be a pressure fitting beside your oil filter. Maybe a copper line blew or a fitting cracked.

Vader,
As a matter of fact it was a Fram. Why does that matter,do Fram's have that problem? The oil was changed only 1500 miles ago,Mobil 1 5w30,and the filter was installed by the same guy who installed the motor last July and goes over this car every Sat.He gets mad if I donot bring it by every week.

IROC,

That's odd - the BEST oil you can get and the WORST oil filter... Maybe the builder was thinking they would even out somehow?

Don't EVEN screw around with them any more. Get AC filters, PCV's, etc. (I had a similar problem with a FRAM PCV valve) Saving a few bucks on an oil filter could have cost you your engine. It's a good thing you were alert enough to catch it. There are a lot of other decent filters on store shelves, but given the vast number of choices and private labelling, this is just another example of why you should stick with the original equipment.

"Fram" is a four-letter word and it begins with an "F". What kind of car should use them?

Vader,
I picked up the filter and oil for my car.I am impressed that you recall me asking you about which oil to use on my new motor.
