head gasket sticking out???

I posted a question awhile ago asking about a blown head gasket, while i dont have coolant oil milkshake, i talked about a mushy rusted substance right under the head. I now have a pic.

Theres a little metal flap but that isnt part of it.

Who knows what this stuff is

Do a compression check on each cylinder to see if you have a blown gasket. I can't tell what that picture is though

Looks like the SARS virus...

Can you get a little better focus? It's really hard to tell what is what in the photo.

pic explained

i cant get a better focus cause the camera isnt mine, it was a friend of a friends camera.

So I labeled the parts, the "Sars Virus" is the weird rusted mushy crap under the head.

I can't tell at all what I'm looking at.

Which head is it? Where on the head? (front, rear, side, top, bottom) Is the pic right side up? What is this substance in between? Which header tube is that?

Lacking a better focus, I can only guess. If you have a rusty, soft substance creeping from under teh head and above the deck, you may have a coolant leak at the head gasket. All I can suggest is that you clean away the "growth" and monitor it for a couple days. If the ooze continues to grow, you'll likely have to pull that head to investigate.

If you indeed have a coolant leak, you'll want to address that ASAP to prevent damage to the crank and bearings.
