Fix Droopy 87-92 Firebird Headlights

If you are one of the many people driving around with one or more headlights in the up position because you can't get the d@$% things to work, and refuse to shell out 300$ each to your local dealership for new ones, I may have a solution for you. If the motors still run when you push the button, but the lights don't move, or move intermittantly, the internal bushings are probably trashed. Rodney Dickman's Fiero Accessories sells a rebuild kit for 87-88 Fiero's that will work in 87-92 Firebirds. He also sells a kit for the earlier gen Fieros which may work in the earlier 3rd gen Firebirds, but I don't know for sure. 9$ (2 kits at 4$ + 1$ S&H) should solve your problems. The instructions are good, just remember that drivers and passenger sides are opposite in Firebirds and Fieros. It took me about 30-45 minutes to rebuild both headlights in my 89 Firebird. I also had to pull out the headlight switch and bend the "down" contact (third from left) in a little closer to make the lights go down. Now they work good as new, and I don't look stupid runing around in the daytime with the lights up. Rodney's website can be found at http://www.execpc.com/~rodney1/, or just type "Rodney Dickman" into a search engine. Hope this help save some of you some money and frustration.

I bought the kit and fixed 87 FB. It works fine-just had a hangup for a while until they settled in.
Here are the links I used:
