Vacuum advance port

I have removed the computer controls for the new motor and need to know what vacuum ports to use for the distributor vacuum advance (I have on older HEI distributor w/ mechanical advance). I have the Edelbrock 1406 carb which has a timed vacuum port and a manifold vacuum port. I need to know which one to use.
