Hypertech chip intall

I just bought a chip on ebay and am wondering if there is any thing I should know before I install it? I know for sure that it is for my year and model car. But other than that any other intall procedures or tips would be greatful. thanks

I liked my thermomaster. U have to get a 160* stat with it though. Keeps your engine nice and cool. 5-10hp i would guess.

I have the same chip, I love it. I may be getting rid of it though, because it is not good to run a chip like that with ntrous. Ths install is VERY easy, I did mine in less than 10 min.

i didnt care for my hypertech chip (street runner) at all, not really any gains.. anyway the install is easy as cake..

under the pass side dash is the computer, youll see two wiring harnesses going into it, unplug them both (squeeze tabs, and gently pull), then there are two 7mm (i think) screws holding the ecm into place.. once it drops down, youll have it in your hands (at this point make sure you are either in constant contact with the body of your car, or some sort of ground because ecms are extremely sensitive to static.. youll see a rectangular cover with two (i forget what size) screws holding it on, take that cover off and youll see the chip, gently remove it (use a puller, or a small flat screwdriver to gently and evenly lift it up.. the new chip should only go in one way, just make sure the notch in the carrier faces the same way as the old one.. then reverse the procedure to put it back together..

Go to Radio Shack, and buy a "wrist ground strap". Use it when changing proms, to avoid static discharge damaging your chips.
