what precautions should I take?
what precautions should I take?
Greetings again, folks.
first, thanks again to everyone's helpful suggestions to my last questions in feb. If you read that, you already know how slow I am w/car work & why, so I won't repeat it here. Anyway, I'm now hip-deep into changing the EGR valve. This time, it's no particular rush as the IROC has been retired as daily driver (got a 2000 SS as the 'errand car' now). But now my concern is contamination. How worried should I be about leaving the thing dissassembled (plenum & tb are out & fuel rails next) & exposed. I've got no garage, she sits in the carport. The aftermarket hood has the big honkin' cowl with 4 holes on each side and going by the amount of dirt that gets ON her (pollen, lawn mowers, etc) I'm scared of how much crap could get IN her. The runners are currently enveloped in the ever-so-useful Wal-Mart bags but they may come off altogether (might as well clean while I've got access) and once the fuel rail & injectors are out how do I protect it? Are clean rags in the holes good enough? Is there a better way to do that and what xtra precautions can I take when it's time to start reassembling? See why I'm so slow at this? I make short questions long
! Thanks all.
