ATTN: Anyone with Edelbrock TES headers,single cat and subframe connectors

This pertains to mainly the TES 6872 headers and Southside bars. Did you run into interference when you tried to put the Y pipe into position? I did and since I'm not happy with the mod(read hack)job the local muffler shop did I've since ordered a new Y from Edelbrock. I will then take it to a performance shop in nearby Charlotte to do the work. Anyone else have this problem and what did you do to solve it? I'm looking into notching the passenger side connector to provide clearance. Anyone have some solutions?

Super Chevy did this and had to make modifications too. For one, they said the passenger side subframe mounts under the firewall. They also had to modify the exhaust by cutting out a small section between the cat and Y-pipe (guess they didn't have the TES) and fab a new pipe. This was w/ Hotchkis . HTH.

Where are the quality SpeedShops in Charlotte that do, street car work. The only one I know of does Nascar and is just too high for my budget.

Which edelbrock headers are you using? Mine are the 86-90 5.0/5.7 with 3" slip fit cat.

I used the 6872's with Kenny Brown super subs, and we shortened the subframe conecter by about 12 inches. That's how I got around the problem. It shouldn't compromise the stiffness much.

I think I'm going to have to notch the bar on the front 10-12" near the pipe. I'll just have to have the hole in the bar welded shut afterwards. I'm pretty much convinced this will be the only way to avoid butchering the new Y pipe I ordered to replace the hacked one. While the cats off I may gut it as well. I'm looking at the "pipe through it" method while keeping the case intact for appearance.
