2 Q's --- Motor Mount / Header Install

I need the TRUTH on header installs. I need a small miracle to get either side in. Can't get driver's side past steering column. Can't get pass side to drop in all the way in the back.

SLP recommended replacement of the driver's side motor mount - yeah right How do you hold the nuts up inside the crossmember on the back of the bolts???

Parts in question:
SLP 1 3/4" headers, '92 Z28 5.7, with AC

Please... very important, car is on a time schedual.

you have to remove the steering column coupler up near the fire wall.

Thanks for your honesty, the smartest person you will ever meet is the one that says I don't know.

Common sense to the novice just will not make it. let me know how everything works out thinking about slp's myself.

I just did this install on my '89 Iroc-Z. To get the driver's side in you have to unbolt the steering shaft. After the bolt is out, get a piece of wood so you can pry against the brake booster and steering shaft to slide it down and out of the way. After that take out the four spark plugs and it will slide in from the top. On the passenger side take out the diverter valve, smog pump and tube, dipstick tube, and the four spark plugs. Look straight down and you will see a solid coolant line, it is bolted in two spots, on the side and top of the box it sits on. Unscrew the bolts and push it out of the way. Disconnect the battery and fan switch and start the header furtherest forward and it will silde in from the top. Make sure you disconnect the battery because if you hit the starter you will have a nice fireworks display.
Hope this helps!! Good Luck!!

Ok... makes sense. I think I'll try the pass from the bottom, and I thought about disconnecting the steering already. Let you know tomorrow.

What about the motor mount?
