piston rings

when i put my piston rings on, i had the book the wrong way, so my end gaps ended up 90 degrees off. my top ring is facing the bak of the motor, my second ring is facing the front of the motor and the oil rings are at 11 and 7 facing the front of the motor. does this matter?

You staggered the oil ring rails - that's important. And it's important that you staggered the copmpression ring gaps. I always try to avoid placing the rings in the same location as the wrist pins. I don't know why, I just do.

It doesn't make a great deal of difference, since the rings can move a bit anyway. What's most important is that the gaps are staggered and that the rings are installed right side up. Of course, a correct gap is imperative.

Not at all.

As long as none of them are over the pin bore or lined up with other rings, it's fine.
