Ok folks, got some questions. About to start putting together my lil ole 305 to throw back in my firebird, was wondering if anyone could give me some suggestions on cam selection, heads, and such. Guess I should add that this is the first shortblock I've had to build, usually just purchase a longblock and work from there.(not much work either ) Tranny is a 700 r4, recently rebuilt, and I've got a deal on a 2500 stall for about 200 bucks. Cam that I'm looking at had about .465 inches of lift on either valve, and about 230 degrees duration at .050 lift. any advice would be helpful, thanks a lot!

 

I'm sure someone is going to say it so I guess that I will go ahead. Why not put a 350 in?
Otherwise, I think your first step would be to set a budget for yourself or if money is no issue then set a Hp range you can live with. Then start choosing parts.
