Heated O2 Sensor
Okay guys, I understand the reasoning behind a heated O2 sensor after a header install especially if you have to relocate the sensor further downstream in the exhaust. What I want to know is how do I know if I need the heated O2 sensor or not? If the unheated sensor was located too far down stream, would it throw a code? Any help would be appreciated.

It might throw a code, it might not. It depends on how far out of whack it gets. Mine never did. My situation has conflicting indications though. When I started my car, black crap would shoot out of my tailpipes. Enough so that I've got stains on my garage floor. I pulled out my old oxygen sensor, and there is virtually NO buildup on it. It's still bare metal except for at the base. That tells me that I'm not running rich. My plugs look as good as the sensor. The car did seem to behave better when I put the new sensor in though.
