Window Spring

I tried replacing my window motor today. When i drilled the last rivet out of the motor, The spring let loose. LLucky to have all my limbs and fingers. My problem is how in the heck are you supposed to get the spring reloaded. Also how many turns are you supposed to reload it. Funny thing is it did'nt really scare me until I tried to load it back up and I realized how much tension was on it. I read the windows 101 after the fact of course. LOL. Of course someone with my mechanical abilites does'nt need to read some directions. If I had of read the Windows 101, I could have been finished in an hour or so. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Randy

never had the spring off the regualtor, but something i did with vave springs in the B&S engines is compress them and use safety wire to secure them. you might try usiong a piece of all thread and zip ties and after it's in place cut the zip tie.
