I thinkTiming is stuck at full advance, car won't idle.

its 89 TPI 305, after going to the dragstrip, car won't idle and real bad throttle response at low rpms, but has alot of power and good response above 3000 rpm. car won't idle or will do it at 200-400rpm 750 is norm. If I short the A and B terminals(like to check codes) it idles fine at about 1000 rpm, What HaPPENED?

I think it might go into open loop when grounding the ALDL, which sets the computer to preset values..Could be one of your sensors going out????//

Does something like a ingnition box(MSD, or Accel) take over the timing? I didn't get to check carefully, but i'm pretty sure all the wires going into the dist. are in place. what are the negatives of leaving the ALDL grounded besides poor fuel economy and power loss in high RPM(although it doesn't seem like it loss any)? thanks
