machine work?
i am planning on rebuilding my 305, and i dont want to hear anything about how i should step up to a 350 if i wanted a 350 i would get it but i like the originality of building a 305, any way i want to get it boiled out, the cylinders honed, material taken off the heads and block to make sure there true, and have new cam bearings pressed in. does any one have any idea about how much this would cost?

Getting my 350 washed, bored .030" over, plate honed, crank ground, new cam bearings, new freeze plugs, and all the holes plugged cost me ~$400.
The deck was true and the mains were fine (didn't need align honing).
Look to spend another $150-$200 for decking and align honing.
Then you're looking at $125+ for a valve job, $60 to resurface the heads, $100 for new valve springs, $75 for new guides, and $35 for new seals.
These are prices in my area. It may be a lot more, or a lot less $$ in your area. The best way is to call a machine shop and ask them.
