Fuel Pressure Guage - Recommendations

I want to mount an under the hood fuel pressure guage. Any recommendations on which to buy or where to mount? Some people have told me not to run one on the car... why?

Anyway tell me what you think.

Accel makes one that mounts right on your fuel rail. I've been running one now for 3 yrs. no probs. Just remember the T tape.

Put the Accel guage on the chicken yesterday as part of the 305>350 swap. With the plenum on it mounts so that you have to thread the 2 vacuum lines around it and it comes darn close. And the teflon tape is a mandatory... very hard getting the cheesy setup to seal correctly without it. I was trying to adjust the pressure with the plenum off just to get it close for starting and I pegged the guage (60 psi). It started leaking internally so the guage face was filled with gas and it just got worse. I took it off and am going to return it... I really didn't want to see fuel spewing and a fire on a new motor... I've seen several examples of fried cars from leaking fuel lines (chrysler 2.2/2.5 injected cars are notorious for this... I have a junker in my driveway) and I didn't feel safe with this setup at this time... perhaps a 100 psi guage would be a better setup and maybe more durable.

I have the Accel one too, I would not get it again. I turned up the PSI to like 60 and now the gauge is all screwed up and reads like 10 too high so it is always pegged.

As for a gauge in the car.. it is a PITA to run a m3echanical gauge in the car and be safe. You need to use a Isolator.. then the line from the isolater and gauge is filled with antifreeze.. They become a pain after a while.

I have an Autometer Electric Fuel Pressure gauge... very accurate. It has the sending unit off the rail.. then a set of wires run into the car and go to a control box.. then the gauge connects to the control box as well. It is great when using Ease or Diacom will tuning your car..

Just my $.02
