OIL PRESSURE FALLS RAPIDLY WHEN COMING OUT OF A TURN??!!!
my oil indicator light comes on and everything. I let one of my good friends drive it to denny's one night, and it will go down to 0 psi but the engine dosent shudder or anything noticable. He thought exactly what i thought. The sender unit. Please confirm my 7.00 dollar horror, instead of a 700.00 dollar horror.
thanks for any help.

BTG,
Do you have a guage AND a light? If the wiring at the sensor is faulty, the indicator could illuminate briefly. If you have a guage and it corresponds to the light, you probably have an oil starvation problem. Make certain your oil level is correct. If the sensors, wiring and oil level are correct, you may have an oil pickup tube coming loose from the pump, or it may be low viscosity oil in a warm engine.

dude check ur freakin oil level... does it happen at high rpm or low rpm? if high rpm, then pump pickup might have broke or low oil. miune was two quarts low (i neglected to check it for too long, dumb *** me) and brought it to 5000 one night and saw my oil pressure gauge dip... BAD!!!!

I'm going to assume you checked the oil level and it's full. If the oil pressure is OK when going straight, but falls suddenly and then equally suddenly recovers from hard cornering or braking, your oil pickup has probably fallen off the pump. This will cause the hole in the pump to be submerged in oil most of the time, but become uncovered when the oil sloshes away. This is a PITA because you have to drop the oil pan to fix it.
If you can make it mostly straighten up by putting an extra quart of oil in it, then that's your problem.

). What I would do is attach the pick up by brazing it or adding a bracket or anything. This is another reason why I run scappers, baffles and windage trays (oil control) with my SBCs. These parts may not be able to offset the loss of the pick up, but it's better then not having it.------------------
