Ignition problem and O2 sensor

Could an ignition problem that causes unburnt mixture to run through to the exhaust cause the oxygen sensor to indicate a rich condition?

I suppose so; the computer would probably try to lean the a/f mix out, but if the ignition was that bad, the computer might not be able to adjust enough. How do your plug electrodes look? Did you pull one (or a few!) and check them out?
