Knock Sensor Bypass

I believe my knocksensor is getting false readings. I haven't heard any knock or had any engine trouble at all, and yet it will retard my timing... pretty much whenever it feels like it. Before I invest in replacing it I'd like to run a few days without it, and see how the car responds.

I've heard of putting a resistor in it's connector, however I don't know what strength resistor, and I don't know where the connector is. Please inform!

I've got an 89 305 TPI, manual.

Check out the TPI forum. There are several posts about the knock sensor, along with the address of the article with the schematic for the two resistors to desensitize it.
