I am going with a 377 turbo t-76
(8) Eagle 4340 H-beam rods with ARP bolts installed
(1) SCAT 4340 crankshaft...good to 900HP
(8)________ Forged 8:1 pistons (got a brand? probe)
(1 set) Turbo application piston rings
(1) SFI approved balancer (maybe fluidamper)
(1) SFI approved flexplate
(1) 400 block
The block has been bored .40 over but should I getanything else done? I am going to go ahead and o-ring the block for safety. do I need to get it decked or anything else? What all should i get done when I get the short block assembled?
any other suggestions would be lovely

The bottom end looks good as for the crank and rods. For pistons I would go with a set of JE or SRP's. If you are going to spin the motor tight I would use an ATI balancer for it. When you take it to the machine shop, have the block decked and the cylinders checked for round. Also pay the extra couple of hundered dollars and have the rotating assembley balanced.

If its a 4 bolt 400, stud the mains, if its a 2 bolt 400, add spayed caps. You need some strenght in this area. I spayed mine.

If its already a 4 bolt main you can't splay the mains. Use ARP studs in the mains.
oh my bad then
will definitely use arp studs......would a main support beef it up any more?

Spaying main caps huh. Yeah, we don't want them breeding and becoming over-populated. hehe, just messing with you guys. I think you meant splayed caps.
lol. my bad. i didnt even know what it meant until today. i also found out the dont make main supports for sbc. for some reason ford engines are "thinner" than chevrolet blocks so they dont make min supports...heres what i have com eup with...
deck the block, o-ring the block, check for roundess, have it balanced

I dunno what weight oil, but I'd use some Royal Purple... great stuff for engines like yours.
are you sure about those rods, what are the hp ratings on them, last i knew they were good to like 550, then they fall apart.
are you thinking about the i-beam rods? they are one step down from the h-beams. I have a friend running nearly the same setup witha t-86 (or 83?) turbo not having a problem with them?

Nah, that can't be true. A local car... 64 rambler is using them on his bottom end. He's making well over 550... to the rear. Also recently in a ford magazine there was a turbo mustang running 8's on eagle products.Originally posted by mw66nova
