Will car start without gauges

I am replacing my gauges and now the car won't start. I did not remove the neg bat cable. I have power to the neutral switch and to the ignition switch. In a last attempt I am trying check the fusible links, But the question is can I start my car without putting back in the gauges(it's a pain in the *** cause the dash is not put back in yet)another story.Do the gauges have to be installed for the car to turn over(completed circut or somethin') right now I get nothing. It is a 86' camaro auto. thanks guys

Yes the car will run without the instrument cluster. Nothing about it is required in order for the engine to run. However, the alt will probably not charge without it; so don't just leave it like that.

my 90 firebird runs without the gauges plugged in. i had to drive it a while without the gauges in one time and it was fine. just extremely weird not knowing how fast your going or seeing the blinker indicators and stuff in the dash, or how much gas you got.
