New track results for L69

Went to the track a few weeks ago with following mods over what is in signature:
1.6 roller tip rockers, Al driveshaft, and
aftermarket LCA's. Did I get a surprise!
No traction! The LCA's really stiffened up the rear and the car did not squat like last year at the track. First run 15.5 @ 93 w/2.5
60ft, second 14.9 @ 95 w/2.5 60ft. Last run
babied it off the line and went 14.52 @ 96.24
w/2.27 60ft. I am happy that the car is making some good power(for a stock 305) but wow I really need to do something w/traction.
Presently installing Spohns relocation brackets and looking into some shocks for the
front........ My goal is to have a stock 305
in the 13's !
Any advice or suggestions is welcome.

Kevin, only when you use full roller rockers do you need to use tall valve covers with perimeter style heads. Other than that, there are no modifications. Even if you use 1.6 ratio rockers on stock springs, rocker studs and camshaft, you will have no problems. The .030" increase in gross lift is ~1/32" of an inch (not much to the eye). Larger aftermarket cams can present a problem that could require upgrades.

Tom K. (84305HO), knock it off, your making my setup look bad. sigh I wish I still had my L69, but I am thinking of rebuilding a roller 305 short block, to replace my current short block, and mock the L69 with a hotter roller cam, ported W/P TQ'er 305, Weiand manifold, 1-5/8 headers but still with my 700-R4. I think if you add 1-5/8 headers and a cat-back you should be close to 13s, if not break 13s. How "stock" do you want to have, long block stock? BTW, any thoughts on running street slicks or drag radials? Congrats and good luck.

Thanks George, since I cannot find an adjustable front shock that I can live with
on the street I think the next move should be
either headers or a sticky tire. I am leaning
toward the tires because I still have the all
original (16 yr old) exhaust in good condition (w/gutted cat).

Damn thats impressive, nice to know that
people support the 305, it's a good motor,
that properly moded can really scoot.
I've heard great things about the World Products S/R torquer heads.

I just had a new best 1/4 mile time with my lg4 of 13.5 @ 99.5MPH. I have lots of mods but the bottom end of the motor is untouched with about 115K miles on it. Take a look at the mods in my signature. High or mid 13's are possible with stock pistons but you will need some good flowing heads, sticky tires, and exhaust work.

Hey Tom, what were your 1/8th mile times on those runs? I wanna compare my times with yours on the 1/8th, because that's all we have in this area. Thanx.

Damn Tom, that is impressive, the best I could do with my 305 was a 9.608@72.2. That was before the ported plenum and runners, and the custom cold air induction. Havent had a chance to get her back to the track yet. Still, not too bad for stock 700R4, with 180,000 miles on it, and it's an automatic! Rock on, fellow 305 brother!
