I think that you can put larger that the 2.02/1.60s on a 383, right?

just a WAG but i'd say 2.1 intakes would be about it. talk to a machine shop, or look at aftermarket heads for a SBC.

You can only go upto 2.05"/1.65". Beyond that you are shrouding the valves. Theoretically you are supposed to go to a max. 53% intake and 41% exhaust based on the bore, and typically 50% intake and 40% exhaust.

Valve size is limitted to the head, not the engine. If you want to dump about $15,000, GMPP makes a 14* sqlayed valved head (simular to the BB head) it has 2.3" intake vavles.

My AFR 210's have 2.08/1.6. Many aftermarket high performance SBC heads under $2500 have 2.18".

The runner size and flow is what you should be looking at.
