Cam and computer not matching up???

My father was checking out my car and noticed that it's running very rich. He thinks it's because of the cam that was installed by the previous owner (which I don't even know what it is). My father said that it's because the computer thinks the stock cam is in there, and running the engine as if that were so. What do you guys think? I'm pretty sure it's a Crane cam, but I'm not sure which one. I haven't taken the engine apart, since this is my daily driver and I don't have a day or two to do that.

What do you guys think? Is my dad just a crazy old man, or is he right? LOL And if so, how the hell do I fix that?

You probably just need to adjust your carb, and/or make sure your mixture control solenoid is working.

So... Would it be adjustments to the carb I need or a new chip?

Adjust... a chip aint gonna do **** for you. Go to a junkyard and look for a bunch of cars that have the Q-Jet as your car. Get all their secondary rods and hangers. Then go home and try each of em on with different combinations. I forgot how it goes, but I think a higher letter hanger is richer and also thinner rods give you more gas. So in your case I guess u'd want some fatter rods, generally a lower two letter combination like AA or AE...

It has nothing to do with your computer not liking the cam. CCCS doesn't care what you put under it, it will work.
If it's just running rich all the time, i vote for a bad/misadjusted TPS. Very common problem, and generally doesn't throw codes. If it isn't that, then it could be anything (except the chip itself which is definitely fine.)
Don't listen to crow either. A chip will not cure any problems with a CCCS car. Cut out at 60....yeah right. The stock timing curve isn't that bad that it will cut the engine out, and a chip does not affect WOT fueling whatsoever.
There are some posts about the TPS on teh carb board now (pretty sure anyway.)
