help with my damn check engine light

i've had my 83 Z/28 on the road for a week now with no problems what so ever. now the check engine light comes on after a couple of minutes. how do i figure out what is wrong? how do i get codes?
help.

Transmission: autos
first you use the search button, i read this topic atleast once a week, and second u get a haynes manual, it will tell u how to get the codes and what the code means

i know to use the search button, first of all. secondly i tried a search and nothing showed me what I wanted to see.

if u have a haynes manual for a 82-92 camaro (or firebird) it will tell u how to get the codes and what the code means. or u can go to a auto zone, they will scan it for free
