Guages in A-pillar pod, no way out??

Hey guys i put some autometer ultralight guages in my car on thew A-pillar the other day and i only have the double pod and my freind had a full piller pod for 3 guages i can buy from him, so i was looking at it tonight in my car and to ge the oul pressure guage out u disconnect the compression fitting witch is no big deal, but for my mechanical water temp guage i don;t see how u can disconnect the still wire thing into the back of it, do i really have to drain all my anti freeze out and disconnect the sensor and pull it threw the firewall?? i def don;t wunt to cut this pod so is there any other way? thanks guys

Where's the gauge go into the motor? On my 2.8, the fitting is in the front outer corner of the driver's side head. When I installed it (Summit 2 1/6 inch mechanical gauge), I didn't drain the coolant out; some oozed out, but I stuck a rag in there to keep it from pouring out. Worked fine; didn't make much of a mess- just do it quickly.

yep toms right.. no need to drain the coolant.. just make sure it isnt hot and pull it out and stick a rag in the hole in the head to keep it from makin too much of a mess then top the coolant off when your done
