harmonic damper

I'm building a 350 using a '97 truck vortec motor to replace my '91 305 TPI. Will the 8" harmonic damper on the truck motor clear all the accessories from the 305? And the vortec timing cover is plastic and says "do no reuse" Do after market timing covers have timing tabs that work on both sizes, or do I need a special cover? Thank you for your help.

Only you can answer the clearance question, but my guess is that it should clear.

Cloyes or Miloden (can't remember) has a cover and adjustable tab that should work for you.

Anybody try the 8" damper? My motor is in the machine shop and they want the damper so they can balance everything that will be used on the motor. Looks like it should work but very close to the lower radiator hose.

I've run 8" dampers on lower RPM applications with no problems. Adjusting a radiator hose shouldn't stop you.
