Ported heads?
Ported heads?
I'm looking for some more power from my motor and i already took care of the exhaust with a custom 2.5" dual and hooker headers so now i'm looking at the intake. Would it be better to port the heads I have now or to get the World product 305's?

Porting won't help much without a cam upgrade. But, with a cam upgrade, porting maximizes the effect.
As to which is better - ported stock, or aftermarket - that's a matter of opinion. I started my mods with the intention of having a complete engine ready to go in when I started taking the stock engine out, but it didn't work out that way. Having the new heads available for porting did reduce the down time, though.
The Worlds are much better if you clean up the valve bowls and reduce the guide intrusion into the flow path. I gasket matched and polished as well.
With stock heads, in addition to porting, figure on having 1.94" intake valves installed, replacing the valve springs, cutting the valve guides for better seals/reduced height, and either pinning the press-in rocker studs, or replacing them with screw-in studs. Before any work is started, have the heads checked for cracks. There is a possibility of core shift with stock castings, which can cause you to grind through a wall when you least expect it (although most heads won't have this problem). The Worlds also have thicker decks to reduce the possibility of cracking.
Which way you go is really your choice. Nobody can weigh the pros/cons for you.
