FEEDING the BEAST
Ok,I'm going to be building a 400 this winter. I'm not sure what to use as an induction system. Right now I had TBI for my 305. Would I be able to get larger injectors and still use this tbi unit? I'm sure TPI would give me some more power and easier to use a blower on if i ever get one. Would a TPI manifold unit feed it? The engine red lines at 6200 rpm so... Would I need to go carbed or use a mini or super ram in order to get the full potential out of this engine?
Note: the block is out of a '70 or'71 impala

Yeah, cheaper for how long? A carb would drink gas feeding a 400 wouldnt it? Of course building a 400 and worrying about gas millage are really opposite concepts. But I see your point. Anyone else?

Fellow out here feeds a 434 SBC w/AFR heads in an '89 Vette with TPIS Miniram. The thing idles like a kitten and runs low 12's at this altitude.
If you're willing to spend the bucks, the Miniram would be sweet. The TBI would require a better manifold and probably larger throttle body along with larger injectors, and you would probably still wish for something better.
