head porting questions?
i got an all original 86 305 tpi trans am , it only got 24,000 miles on it ,, its mint now its time for some mods, after getting beat by 4 bangers its time to spend some money on it,
for all you guys that are going to tell me to go buy a 350 , my answer is i would if i had more milage but i want to have a decent 305 i don't care about 13's mid 14's suits me fine
i bought the comp extreme energy cam 212 218 449 456 112lsa i got that on my desk right now,
now for the heads of my car what would you guys recomend , should i get them ported ,or buy an aftermarket set, this is the big question
i have 3.42 gears in the car , and a few other mods,
please let me no what my expectations should be with this set up

If you're going to pay someone else to port them, think about buying an aftermarket set. If you're going to do it yourself go ahead and port them, you can see some decent gains for just a bit of work but you'll have to buy, borrow, or rent the tools. If you do pay someone else to do it, make sure you check out the shop thoroughly, to many shops out there call a gasket match "ported".

for the amount of money and time , i should buy a set of vortecs or sr tourquers, i don;t care on the price , i just want the car to run good and alittle more pep
how are the vortecs for the 305 tpi ,can;t complain over 600 canadian

you'll need a different lower intake base to run the vortecs. it's like $200-250. can't remember exactly. it's from scoogin-dickey or however it's spelled. If you port yourself..... then port the upper plenum too. the area right behind the throttle body can use a lot of help. the base can use some too.
