ok my friend has a 94 olds achevia. 2.3L SOHC. it wa running ith a slight miss all week comeing and going, now it wont idle, it runs but shakes like hell. like it was running out of gas. if yo ugive it throttle, it smooths right out but in gear has 0 power.
bad vacume leaque? FPR?

check ur igniton.... prob need a cap and rotor and new plugs and wires...

should be no distributor cap or rotor on that engine. if i were to bet on it, i'd say head gasket or cracked head. just my input. let us know when you find out.

 

no cap and wires. plugs are new.
if it was the head gaskets ot a cracked head wont it be burning water? (white clouds comeing out of tailpipes?) i am gonna take a good look @it tomorro when i have my day off. if it is something to do w/ head, would a compression guage on each cylender tell me? ie:: 3 of the cylenders read 5psi and one of them reads 1psi (just choosing numbers for example)

UPDATE!!!

ok i ran it, no power cant climb a driveway and i looked under the car, the cat was glowing red. witch leads me to believe one of the cylenders is out. what could it be, iam gonna run a compression test to rule out, valves,timing belt, rings,headgasket/cracks

if those are all ok, what could it be?
