I need a new radiator. What should I get?

My radiator finally blew, so now I've got an excuse to upgrade. I'd prefer to get one that, unlike my old radiator, does NOT require the use of my heater core as a back-up cooling device. If at all possible I'd like to be able to use the AC for once. So basically, I don't think a stock replacement is going to cut it, especially when I have plans for a bigger engine in the future. So what should I get? I've got a 91 305 TPI and a 700R4 w/ aftermarket tranny cooler. I'd like to get something that'll drop straight in without any modifications. Any ideas? The only thing I can find so far is a Be Cool radiator, but it's a little too explensive, and maybe more than I need.

Vic,

If you don't like the $500.00 price tag of an aluminum, check out the local radiator shops ability to install a four-pass core to your existing tanks. Since the transmission already has a secondary cooler, the reduced load should help, and a four-core in stock dimensions should handle the load of a 305 with plenty of capacity to spare.

I've had multiple cores done for less than $200.00.

I just bought a Griffin universal radiator with 2 rows of 1-1/4" tubes and a built in trans cooler for $333. I will install it soon, but others on this board already have done it with minor problems. If this radiator won't keep it cool, nothing will!
Griffin also makes direct fit replacement radiators but they cost more. Not as much as Becool though.
