350 Rocket is the designation of an Olds engine. Nothing special about them, Rocket was just the selling term they used back in the 60's and early 70's. Just unlike a Chevy engine your performance parts selection is limited and everything costs twice as much.

If you're thinking of this for an F-Body it's not worth the hassle.

ahhh, that's what I was thinking, I remember an old country song about a 455 rocket, but never heard of a 350 one.

For a second I thought he was talking about a jet engine, lol.

I have one out in my garage. They're good little motors, slightly bigger bore and slightly smaller stroke than a standard 350 chevy. Great replacement for a 307 olds motor in a G-body; not quite sure why you'd ever think of putting one in an F-body.

The bore and stroke on that 350 Olds engine are as follows:

Bore = 4.057"

Stroke = 3.385" (same stroke as a Olds 403)

Auggie,

AFAIK all SBO's have the same stroke... Probably a cost saving measure for Oldsmobile...

Well, not exately. Here are all the V/8's that Olds made.

260 ci = 3.500"/ 3.385"
303 ci = 3.750"/ 3.438"
307 ci = 3.800"/ 3.385"
324 ci = 3.875"/ 3.437"
326 ci = 3.781"/ 3.750"
330 ci = 3.938"/ 3.385"
350 ci = 4.057"/ 3.385"
371 ci = 4.000"/ 3.688"
394 ci = 4.125"/ 3.688"
400 ci = 4.000"/ 3.975"
400 ci = 4.120"/ 3.750"
403 ci = 4.351"/ 3.385"
425 ci = 4.125"/ 3.975"
455 ci = 4.125"/ 4.250"
