Idle Problem, Please Help...
My 87' Camaro with a 305, and a stock Q-jet has a rough time starting, when it does start the RPMs usually drop below 500 and the car kills?? Also sometimes when I give my car gas when Iam already moving the car sounds like it died then jumps real hard. Some times at wide open thottle the car stops accel. and the RPMs jump all over the board. Does any one know, or can you even tell, how much hp a LG4 engine has? sorry so long, thanks.

Welcome aboard.
Sounds like you have carb issues, starting with the choke. As in, it isn't closing when the engine is cold. The other things may or may not be related to the carb, as they could be carb tuning or ignition related.
The choke can be checked when the engine is cold and not running (with the air cleaner removed, open the throttle slightly - the choke butterfly should go closed). After you get that working, do a good tune-up (plugs, cap, rotor, perhaps plug wires). The coils on these cars have also been known to go bad. Then, see how it runs to determine whether more carb tuning is needed.
The LG4 had 165-170 HP, net (engine powering the water pump and alternator, exhaust as in the vehicle - not headers), at the flywheel, depending upon the model. Impressive, huh?
