New flexplate after engine swap?
New flexplate after engine swap?
I'm putting a rebuilt 350 from '73? with a two piece rear seal into my 87 iroc with a 700r4. Will I need a new flexplate or anything else for that matter to hook the tranny up to the engine?

Just the new flex plate. Relatively inexpensive. Have one hanging on the garage wall. A new one is a good route to take, though.

Any auto parts store will have them for about $20-$30. Or, Summit or Jeg's mail order has heavier duty ones for quite a bit more money. The stock flexplate should be OK.
Here's an amusing story about one of mine: I've got a restored '72 Chevy truck with a 350 that my wife liked to drive, which was good because I take her Corolla on my long distance road trips for work. (yeah, I know, but it gets 35-40 MPG) But, the flexplate on the truck had 3/4 of one tooth broken off, so every once in a while you'd have to get a breaker bar to roll the engine past this spot so the starter would engage. Well, it happened to her way more than it did me. If she had the same luck with a roulette wheel we'd be rich. I laughed off her protests too often, because one day I got home there was a Ford Explorer in the driveway. She'd bought it from my sister. The moral of the story? Fix your wife's vehicle when it needs it, or at least pretend to be trying...
