LS1 in a third gen

I might be able to get a low milage LS1 with the computer and harness and was just wondering if putting this in a third gen is a viable project. Has anyone ever seen or heard of a swap like this? If anyone has any input on how to make this swap possible, I would appreciate any feedback.

I've heard of a swap like that, but it takes extensive mods to the motor mount location.
You would probably also need to get y-pipe and trans if possible, it would make the swap go a lot quicker. Even if the swap was expensive, it would be real cool.

the biggest snag I could see is that the LS1 does not have a fuel pressure regulator or return line. The LS1 cars have a built in regulator on the pump so you would have to figure out a way to run a similar system. I'm not sure if it could be adapted to the 3rd gen sending unit or not, KYle

Don't know about F-body LS1s but the 97-99 corvettes had the fuel regulator up on the fuel rail I believe. Even if I'm wrong about the location, I know they didn't move it to the pump until 2000.

If you're serious about the LS1 swap e-mail me at bnsrslt1@aol.com I can get you in touch with a guy that does nothing but swap LT1 and LS1 engines into 3rdgens and just about any car.

One thing you have to keep in mind is that there is a LOT of weird and very false info out there on swaps. The only way to get the straight story is to ask someone who's done it. I would definitely say an LT1 swap should be easier than the LS1 - but the LS1 is a far better motor stock for stock. And you might as well throw a cam in it while you're swapping it!

Thanks for all the help guys. I'm still trying to get a price on the LS1 and 6 speed, so this project is still in the VERY early stages. Any one got any more ideas?
