Automatic whith a 5inch tach and shift light why

I saw this pictue of a camaro i think a 1987 it was automatic but it had a shift light and giant tach why would you need this.

so you would know when to shift if it was a manual..? its also a good HP gain, around 15 hp if i remember right.. goes well with the floor matt delete option

my guess is, when you add a huge cam, ported intake setup, blah blah blah, you get extra rpm's. stock redlines at 5500? you can set those lights to come on at whatever rpm you want to shift at.

Not that I have a huge tach or a shiftlight, but I do shift my auto maunally when I race... so there could be a use for it.... personally i think the tach in my 84 TA is plenty big
