bucking and stalling...plz help

i have a 1984 camaro with the 5.0 liter 305 HO engine, just yesterday when i started it up after work it all of a sudden started running rough. it would buck as i accelerated, but it also ran rough while idle too, and every once in a while it would stall. i checked the timing and all vacuum hoses and found one had broken, but i replaced it and it still runs terrible. if anyone has any thoughts plz, i would really appriciate ur input. thanx

Have you done any work on the car lately that could be related?

at first i thought it might be a loose wire or gas backup somewhere in the system, except for it idles and when it bucks the gages dont turn off and on , plus it only stalled once on me, so if it had a gas clog it would probably shut off more often

if you are hearing a knock from the distributor, maybe you put the wires back on in the wrong order. How recently have you messed with the heater core? Maybe you had to take some plug wires off recently? Just a small guess because I kinda had that problem before but noticed it before I drove anywhere. Good luck.

i dont think it is related to me replacing the heater core because i replaced it about 3 weeks ago and it drove fine until just recently

now i kno if the car runs with some sort of failure or problem the computer will try to correct the problem by adjusting the settings to try to compensate for any failures so the car will run. and even after u fix the problem since the computer recorrected itself it will stay that way and continue to run that way until u reset it. do u think that might apply, because im not sure how long it takes the computer to try to compensate for the problem. i only drove it once like this and then i didnt driveafter it ran rough.
